a fresh start - what's in [the] name
Okay, I get it. I graduated college, moved to New York, and now I'm starting a blog. How classically Millennial of me.
For a long time now, I've written random essays and recaps and thoughts down but never quite known where to put them, and always put "work writing" - blogs, columns, homework, applications, emails - ahead of them. Now that I'm in the glorious post-grad world of no homework (aside from, you know, working from home or nightly work prep) with the city that never sleeps surrounding me in an exposed-brick apartment with a hefty price tag, I figure this: why not start a blog?
I've loved following many bloggers throughout high school and college, and have loved gaining their perspectives on different phases of and approaches to life. Many of my favorite bloggers are now a few steps ahead of me... a little bit older, getting married, are already married, having kids, etc., and I felt like there aren't a ton of true "YoPro" lifestyle blogs out there that I really related to anymore.
So, if you're done rolling your eyes at my bright-eyed, new-to-NYC and adulthood spiel, I'd love to start sharing with you little pieces of the 'SDougherty of my life.' (Get it? Like 'story' but with my last name? Ha.)
There are so many challenges, growing pains, city adventures, professional lessons, foods to try, you-name-it's ahead. I realized I need a place to share, reflect and connect beyond the realm of my 9 to 6 grind. This Is Everything Else in life that I want to share, discuss or think about beyond my email and Outlook calendar. Here we go!
